Support Girls Inc. of the Central Coast's Programs
There are several ways in which you can support Girls Inc. of the Central Coast's programs.
- $1,000 will sponsor a 16 to 18 year old girl to participate in the ECHO leadership menoting Program. In this program, girls will participate in a series of interactive educational modules, guest speakers, field trips and retreats, Young women are encouraged to pursue post-secondary education, and plan for future careers. The program is co-facilitated by youth leaders and adult volunteer mentors. Topics include: Planning for a College Education; Careers; Basic Health Care; Families, How culture shapes our attitude; Public Speaking, Influencing Public Policy, Budgeting and Entering the Workplace.
- $440 will provide a scholarship for a 7th grade girl to participate in the Friendly PEERsuation Program. In this program, girls 11 to 14 years old will go through a series of workshops to learn communication strategies, stress management, how to resist media, peer and social pressure, to avoid the use of drugs and alcohol, and how to develop leadership skills. They also will be trained as facilitators, to teach what they have learned to younger girls from 6 to 10 years old.
- $360 will provide a scholarship for a girl 14-15 years old to attend the Smart Choices Summer Program. Girls will experience college life and participate in workshops on goal setting, preparation for high school and college, economic literacy, mental health, physical fitness, body image, resisting peer pressure, substance abuse prevention, stress management, and socializing skills.
- $200 will provide a scholarship for a 8 to 11 years old girl to attend the Strong, Smart, and Bold Summer Camp. Girls participate in research-based programs such as: Girls Take Another Look increase their awareness of the scope and power of the media and the effects of media messages on girls and women, Girls encourage is designed to sustain girl’s interest in sports through adolescence by introducing them to nontraditional activities and adventures, Operation SMART develops girl’s enthusiasm for and kills in science, though hands-on activities, girls explore, ask questions, persist, and solve problems.
